| As a portrait, documentary and multimedia photographer my work has garnered multiple awards from the Lucie Foundation, Associated Press, California Newspaper Photographer's Assoc., Bay Area Press Photographer's Assoc., National Newspaper Assoc., Best of the West and the News Executive Council. For 15 years I worked as a newspaper photographer for the Modesto Bee, Merced Sun-Star and the San Francisco Chronicle. My images have appeared in many diverse publications including Forbes, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Barron's, Newsweek, Time, Chicago Magazine, AAA, Via and the New York Post to name but a few. Additionally, I've shot for corporations including Wells Fargo Bank, Walgreens, Harris Ranch, Sam's Club, IBM, Scholastic, Cigna Healthcare, Lawrence Livermore Lab, Valmont International and the Southern Poverty Law Center. After driving a taxi cab in the metropolitan New York area it became clear it was time to go back to school. I studied at the School of Visual Arts in New Yor and received a BFA from the State University of New York, New Paltz. More recently, I taught photography at the University of California, Merced and Merced College and currently offering photo classes in my downtown studio at 1812 Canal Street. Additionally, I 've received grants for my photography from the Calif. Council for the Humanities, Univ. of California, Merced Courthouse Museum, Merced Community Foundation, California Endowment and have exhibited in both one-man and group exhibtions. I'm a member in good standing of the American Society of Media Photographers and Editorial Photographer Association. My wife Sheryl, daughter Marissa and I, live in California. We have a two lab puppies named Berlioz and Johann after their namesake classical composers. Go figure. |
